Yoga Therapy
Yoga therapy is a holistic, evidence-informed approach that uses movement, breathwork, meditation, and mind–body awareness practices to support physical, emotional, and psychological wellbeing. Guided by a trained yoga therapist, sessions are individualized to address specific health concerns such as stress, trauma, chronic pain, anxiety, or life transitions. Yoga therapy focuses on regulating the nervous system, increasing body awareness, and building skills for self-regulation and resilience, helping individuals reconnect with their bodies and support overall healing and functioning.
What to Expect
In yoga therapy sessions, you can expect a personalized, collaborative approach focused on your specific physical, emotional, or mental health goals. Sessions are 45 - 60 minutes in length and often begin with a brief check-in and assessment of symptoms, stress levels, pain, sleep, or life transitions. A yoga therapist may then guide you through gentle movement, breathwork, guided relaxation, meditation, or body awareness practices designed to regulate the nervous system and build coping skills. Props such as bolsters, blankets, or chairs are commonly used to increase comfort and accessibility.

Yoga therapy typically moves at a slower, more therapeutic pace than a traditional yoga class, with emphasis on safety, choice, and self-awareness. You may also learn simple practices to use between sessions to support stress management, emotional regulation, pain relief, or overall wellbeing. The goal is not performance or flexibility, but developing sustainable tools to support healing, resilience, and improved daily functioning. You may benefit from yoga therapy if you are looking for a gentle, integrative approach to support stress, trauma recovery, chronic pain, anxiety, life transitions, or overall mind–body wellness.
